Anime

Hello anime fans!

I've been a fan of anime for a long time and I've decided to create a blog dedicated to it! Instead of writing reviews about anime I've decided to take certain titles that I find interesting (or not) and introduce people to them. I'll give synopsis of course and even my personal thoughts on the show, but please don't consider it a review.

Thanks for stopping by everyone! I hope you enjoy your stay!

Magical Project S

I had a hard time trying to pick the right anime I should start talking about. I had a lot of shows to pick from. I mean my DVD collection alone contains over 250+ DVDs and picking the perfect one was tough. Finally I chose 'Magical Project S'. Before I start talking about this show there is something I would like to discuss first.

When I went to forums and discussed anime with people, there was one thing that kept coming up. I'm not talking about piracy, or dubbing shows, it was something much worse... 'Stacks'. People had these things called 'stacks' and they consisted of purchased and unwatched anime! I acted mortified that anyone could buy and ignore an anime, but I have a confession. I too had my own stack...

Of course that stack only had two DVD sets, but still. A stack is a stack. Well after two years (I'm ashamed) I've finally dusted them off and watched the whole show. All 26 episodes.

MAGICAL PROJECT S

The show starts off with a woman named Tsunami who was just named the queen of Juraihelm, but before she can take the crown she must restore the balance of good in the universe. In order to do this she enlists the help of Sasami Kawai. Throughout the series Sasami is against becoming magical girl Pretty Sammy, but usually does anyways and she's always claiming that it will be the last time.

Tsunami isn't the only one trying to become queen. In fact another candidate to the crown, Ramia, is also trying to become queen by making Sasami fail in her mission to restore balance. She enlists the help of Misao Amano, but unlike Sasami, Misao has no idea that she's being transformed into Pixy Misa.

Both girls have their own 'familiars' to assist them. Pretty Sammy has Ryo-Ohki and Pixy Misa has Rumiya. Ryo-Ohki is supposed to be a cat, but he looks like a rabbit and Rumiya is a bird. How the girls transform is also different. Pretty Sammy uses a baton while Pixy Misa has Rumiya who forces the change. If Misao is in a room filled with people she'll wonder out (as though in a daze) and transform somewhere else.

Pixy Misa uses 'Love Love Monsters' to do the fighting for her, but the monsters are just as weak as Pixy Misa is and are beaten rather quickly.

PERSONAL THOUGHTS-

What's really cool about this series is the fact that it's not trying to be like Sailor Moon. It's actually a comedy about magical girls, but it does have it's sad moments and if you're not careful you could end up shedding a tear or two, but don't worry! It still remembers it's a comedy.

The show is worth checking out. Whether you're a fan of Tenchi Muyo (who does make an appearance) or you're a fan of magical girls. The monsters aren't very ferocious, but it's certainly worth viewing.
